Manchester United vs Cardiff City

Manchester United vs Cardiff City: Odds, Preview, Live Stream and TV Info Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first game in charge as caretaker Manchester United manager will see him return to Cardiff City, with whom he endured an ill-fated spell as manager in 2018.

On paper, Saturday’s game should be an easy three points for the Red Devils as Cardiff are down in 16th in the Premier League table.

However, United have made everything difficult in 2018-19, they have won just one of their past six league games, and the Bluebirds are in fine form at home, having won their last three on the bounce at Cardiff City Stadium.

Solskjaer is a United legend. He famously scored the winning goal in the 1998-99 UEFA Champions League final to help the Red Devils claim an unprecedented treble and spent 11 years at the club before being forced to retire in 2007 because of injury:

As a result, his appointment will be welcomed by most United fans, and he should be given time to implement his methods.

However, given the state in which sacked manager Jose Mourinho left the team, the former Norway international has some immediate firefighting to do.

The atmosphere around the Manchester club this season has been poor, with the Portuguese oozing negativity and falling out with some key players, notably Paul Pogba.

That has translated into poor performances, and United’s drab showings this term have left them 11 points off the top four and 19 behind leaders Liverpool.

So Solskjaer has a huge job on his hands to revive the charismatic style of play United have long been known for and to heal some wounds in the dressing room.

If United are to have any chance of finishing the season in the top four, they need to take advantage of their relatively comfortable Christmas fixture list.

After Saturday’s visit to Cardiff, the Red Devils host Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth before going away to Newcastle United on January 2.

He has better players to work with at United, though, and they should all be galvanised by the change in manager and be looking to impress.

Neil Warnock’s Bluebirds have been excellent at home recently, but they are fragile defensively, having conceded the second-most goals in the league this term—33 in 17 games.

United boast some special attacking talent in the shape of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Under Mourinho, however, they were not played in a system that gave them the chance to flourish.

If Solskjaer can change that, he should be able to get off to a winning start on Saturday.

West Ham vs Watford

The Hornets ended a six-game winless streak by overcoming Cardiff 3-2 at Vicarage Road, but Troy Deeney continued his personal barren run against the Bluebirds.

Ahead of the visit to the London Stadium, the Spaniard said: “It’s good for the team to choose different ways to score and not only depend on the strikers because sometimes all the players have to score, including wingers, midfielders, defenders, like Jose (Holebas) in the last game, and I think it’s good for the team.

“I’m not worried about whether or not our strikers are scoring more goals because we create more chances in every game. More than the other teams I think. One day one player will score, another day someone else will score. It’s not a problem for me.”

West Ham will be looking to make it five Premier League wins on the trot for the first time since 2006.

“The most important thing is to be in the top six at the end of the season,” said Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini.

West Ham forward Marko Arnautovic could be back in training next week, but the visit of Watford will come too soon.

The Austrian. who has scored five goals this season, suffered a hamstring injury against Cardiff on December 4 and was expected to be sidelined until well into the new year.

But Pellegrini revealed Arnautovic is ahead of schedule, meaning he could even be involved in the squad against Southampton on December 27 and Burnley three days later.

Lucas Perez (foot) will be assessed but Jack Wilshere, Ryan Fredericks (both ankle), Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles), Carlos Sanchez (knee), Winston Reid (knee) and Manuel Lanzini (ACL) remain long-term absentees.

Gracia will continue to be without Andre Gray, Will Hughes, Adalberto Penaranda and Sebastian Prodl, all sidelined through injury, but Etienne Capoue is available against after suspension.

West Ham have turned the corner, and are playing with a lot of confidence. They’ve got some good players, have a nice run of games and are punishing teams. They look like they’ve got a bit of a swagger.

They’ve got goals in them, that’s what I like, and they’re becoming hard to break down too. Watford returned to form with a much-needed victory over Cardiff on Saturday, but I’m going for West Ham

Chelsea: After the upset loss to Wolves on Dec. 5, the Blues bounced back by knocking off undefeated Manchester City and followed that up with a tough 2-1 win at Brighton to get into the top four. Now comes a really great chance to take a commanding lead ahead of fifth place. Chelsea will face Watford, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Newcastle after Wolves. Outside of Watford, the others are in the bottom third of the table.

Leicester City: The Foxes only have survival on their minds, and they’ll likely get there. To help their chances, they need to get something from games like this.. Following Chelsea, the team will face Manchester City, and they aren’t expected to get anything from either. Even a point from those two could be valuable come season’s end.

The Blues come out of the gates slow, but in the second half Eden Hazard takes over and the Blues win again.

The Gunners slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Southampton in their last league outing, the first time they’ve been beaten since losing to Manchester Cityand Chelsea at the start of the campaign.

As for Burnley, they’ve won just once since September and sit in the relegation zone on goal difference, so a positive result here will see them climb out at least temporarily.

Arsenal will be keen to get back on track as soon as possible, particularly at home to a side battling relegation.

A win would see them draw level on points with fourth-place Chelsea, putting the Blues under some slight pressure ahead of their clash with Leicester City.

Burnley have won just once away from home this season, against Cardiff City, so the Gunners will be confident of taking three points here.

The Clarets were only minutes away from claiming a draw at Wembley Stadium against Tottenham Hotspur in their last match, though, having frustrated Spurs throughout the contest.

It’s likely they’ll employ a similar setup at Arsenal, so the Gunners will need to unlock their deep-lying defence.

As such, the match could be tailor-made for Mesut Ozil, who returned to Premier League action off the bench in the defeat to Southampton after missing three matches with a back problem.

While the German has no shortage of critics questioning his attitude and work rate, his delivery is superb:

Arsenal boss Unai Emery may have doubts about the playmaker—whom he left on the bench for the team’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth in November prior to his injury—but there is perhaps no player in their squad who can pick a lock like he can.

Spurs had to resort to Christian Eriksen to break the deadlock against Burnley, and Ozil can help Arsenal do the same if he’s on the pitch.
